The
expression “turnkey project” and the concept of project
forwarding entails contacting the suppliers, analyzing
the transportation needs, synchronizing the deliveries
with anticipated schedule needs, collecting and
temporarily storing lots of goods which have to be
delivered at the same time, packing, marking,
documenting and moving goods in often non-standard
packages by non-standard methods to or from non-standard
destinations.
A project forwarder is the architect within the transport
chain, identifying and designing the most effective ways
of moving goods and materials around the world,
according to the customer's individual needs. A project
forwarder also has to be ready to cope with disruption
in deliveries and planning, and often be able to see the
unforeseeable. That is the role that ZBI assumes in
close collaboration with our customer.
Project cargo is time sensitive, as vast
sums may be put at risk should materials arrive late,
incomplete or damaged at their ultimate destination.
